Watermelon Heaven

Yay! First blog post! I am so excited to share this recipe.  It is perfect for summertime and I have been loving it for breakfast most days of the week lately.  Watermelon is a natural diuretic which means it will pull excess water (bloating) out of your body.  When I start my day with this I feel as though I am giving my body a mini cleanse and immediately feel refreshed and hydrated.  I leave the seeds in as they are full of minerals, B vitamins, and healthy fats (recommended for high power blenders like the Vita Mix or Blendtec only).

4 cups watermelon

1/2 cup purified water

Blend until liquified.  If you have the time, placing this in the freezer for 30 minutes (stirring with a fork every 10 minutes) really takes it to the next level.  The end result is a creamy, slushy cup of awesomeness.  Blend as soon as you get up and have freezing while you get ready for the day.  I haven’t tried this with frozen watermelon, but if anyone does please comment below and let me know how it works.

Simple, easy, and so good! To take this recipe to the next level with optional add in’s:

-basil leaves (*highly recommended! I used one large leaf for the above recipe and it added a subtle flavor that blended perfectly with the watermelon)

-lime

-chia seeds (especially if omitting the seeds.  Add 2 T chia seeds, mix well.  Let sit for 10 minutes to allow the chia to gel.)

Enjoy! ❤ ❤
